The Employee Retention Credit (ERC) can be a very beneficial tax credit for employers whose businesses suffered gross receipts declines or were suspended by government orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-21. Unfortunately, many promoters and marketers have taken advantage of this opportunity to convince businesses to claim the ERC, even though they may not be eligible. The ERC is a very complicated tax credit, and the IRS is now starting to crack down on ERC claims, leaving many businesses questioning whether they were even eligible to claim it. Join us for an update on the current state of ERC, as well as a discussion about what issues businesses who have filed claims or may still be considering filing claims should consider now that the IRS has stepped up enforcement on this super-charged issue.
