to support and promote Buffalo Niagara’s Manufacturing Sector. The BNMA is the voice of manufacturing in Western New York. We promote business success through peer-to-peer connectivity, education, advocacy, economic development, career awareness and sharing of best practices. The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors, be based at the organization’s offices in Buffalo, NY, and have overall responsibility for making BNMA an impactful organization.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This full-time permanent position is for immediate hire and reports to a supportive and professional Board of Directors. This impactful leadership position is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization. This position requires a dynamic leader who is passionate about manufacturing, a hands-on manager who fosters growth, as well as developing and managing member engagement, networking events, workforce development initiatives, and advocacy programs at a local, regional, state, and federal level. The BNMA is a not-for-profit 501(c)(6) association representing over 180 manufacturing businesses and organizations across Western New York. The BNMA is a catalyst of innovation, a champion for education, and a builder of partnerships that keep manufacturing in Western New York moving forward. BNMA members supply the region, state, nation and world with amazing products and services. The BNMA's members represent over 20,000 workers in our region.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the board of directors to identify, create, and implement strategic plans to achieve organizational goals & objectives
  • Plan and manage the day-to-day operations of the organization per our by-laws, including fiscal management, budget development and oversight, as well as fundraising, to ensure BNMA’s success. This includes compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements
  • Prepare & preside over monthly membership meetings.
  • Grow the membership annually
  • Maintain and increase member benefits
  • Lead, manage, and guide the organization to attain continued growth, success, and optimal mission impact for workforce development and advocacy programs
  • Provide thoughtful leadership that is inclusive, transparent, and empowering in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of directors
  • Schedule and organize all Board meetings and provide reports and updates on current work, project timelines, and project and organizational progress
  • Be the voice of manufacturing and manufacturers in WNY speaking on the importance of manufacturing, key issues, legislation, regulations, etc. using BNMA social media and other tools.
  • Foster communication, cooperation and strengthen partnerships between the BNMA, the Northland Training Center, local and state economic development agencies., etc.
  • Represent the association at social and corporate events in ways that strengthen the brand and communicate the company’s message

OPTIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate for this role embraces servant-leadership as well as a thoughtful approach to day-to-day operational management, strategic planning, and organizational leadership. Qualified candidates should bring:

  • A proven passion for manufacturing
  • At least three years of prior executive experience as a successful leader of a manufacturing business, related nonprofit and/or similar organization
  • A proven track record of growing organizational capacity and programmatic impact
  • A strong passion for the mission and programs of the BNMA
  • Proven abilities and experience in fiscal management, budgeting and P&L management
  • A Passion for creative program development and organizational funding growth
  • Ability to review current organizational programs/structures and make recommendations to increase their effectiveness
  • Capacity to excel at influencing, leading and growing an organization
  • Knowledge of how to foster an environment of accountability, healthy work relationships and partnerships, and inclusivity among organizational staff (if any) in order to maintain a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Experience in creating and establishing clear, measurable business goals
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to work well with media, staff, and the community

COMPENSATION:

This opportunity offers the ability to make significant impact leading and growing the manufacturing sector in Western New York. This position offers a strong starting base salary, dependent on experience, plus a full benefits package that includes health insurance and a 401k with match.
