SUNY Niagara is a Western New York higher education and workforce development partner helping manufacturers and other employers recruit, develop, and upskill their workforce. Through academic programs, Workforce Development, customized corporate training, and industry partnerships, SUNY Niagara connects education with the evolving workforce needs of regional businesses.
SUNY Niagara’s Workforce Development Department works directly with manufacturers and other companies to develop training based on their specific needs. Training opportunities include trade-related blueprint reading, OSHA 10 certification, forklift operation and safety, Microsoft Excel and other software training, CPR/HeartSaver training, leadership development, employee performance management, accounting and budgeting skills for managers, and customized programs developed for individual employers.
The college also provides education and training in industrial and skilled trades, including Welding Technology. SUNY Niagara’s Welding Technology program prepares students for careers as certified welders in manufacturing and operates from a modern 4,500-square-foot welding and metal fabrication facility. Training emphasizes hands-on welding skills and preparation for industry certifications while also developing skills that support advancement into manufacturing management, sales, purchasing, and procurement.
Additional workforce and technical education opportunities include industrial and skilled trades training, drafting and AutoCAD, engineering-related skills, technology and computer programs, business and leadership development, green and renewable energy, and other career-focused programs. Drafting training includes technical drawing, dimensioning and tolerancing, geometric tolerancing, welding layouts, weld strength, and manufacturing materials.
SUNY Niagara also works with employers and regional partners to create stronger pathways between education and employment through internships, apprenticeships, cooperative experiences, workforce training, and other industry partnerships.
