Orleans/Niagara BOCES is a regional education and workforce development organization serving 13 component school districts across Orleans and Niagara Counties. Through Career and Technical Education (CTE), Adult and Continuing Education, and partnerships with local employers, Orleans/Niagara BOCES prepares students and adult learners with the technical skills and hands-on experience needed to succeed in manufacturing, skilled trades, engineering, technology, and other high-demand careers.
With Career and Technical Education centers in Medina and Sanborn, Orleans/Niagara BOCES provides industry-focused training designed to connect education directly with workforce needs. Programs relevant to the manufacturing community include Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, Welding, Project-Based Engineering/Precision Machining, Electricity/Electronics, Diesel Technology, Auto Service, Auto Body, Building Trades, Computer Technology, and other technical career pathways.
Students gain practical experience using manufacturing equipment and technologies while developing skills applicable to real-world production environments. Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering opportunities include CNC equipment, CAD/AutoCAD, engineering and design, machining, fabrication, and manufacturing processes. Welding programs provide hands-on training and opportunities for students to develop skills sought by local industrial employers.
Orleans/Niagara BOCES works closely with Western New York manufacturers to create internships, paid co-op opportunities, apprenticeships, job shadowing, employer engagement, and other work-based learning experiences. Its Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering students have participated in employer matching and paid co-op programs connecting students directly with area manufacturers. In the 2024-25 school year, approximately 1,792 students participated in Orleans/Niagara BOCES CTE programs.
