Cobey Profile

Cobey Inc. is a Buffalo, NY-based global designer and manufacturer

Cobey Inc. is a Buffalo, NY-based global designer and manufacturer of custom-engineered modular compressor packages, lubrication systems, gas seal systems, pressure vessels, piping packages, and auxiliary equipment for oil and gas, petrochemical, renewable energy, power generation, air separation, chemical processing, and other demanding industrial applications.

Cobey provides complete project support from initial application engineering and equipment selection through mechanical and structural design, fabrication, piping, electrical and instrumentation integration, assembly, testing, documentation, and shipment. Systems are custom engineered around customer specifications, operating conditions, applicable codes, and industry standards.

Compressor packaging capabilities include high- and low-speed reciprocating compressors, centrifugal compressors, axial compressors, oil-free and oil-flooded screw compressors, integrally geared compressors, and liquid-ring vacuum systems. Cobey also packages steam turbine-generator sets, turbo-expanders, engine-generator sets, fans, blowers, and other rotating equipment.

Custom compressor packages can incorporate structural bedplates and skids, machinery mounting pads, pressure vessels, process piping, tubing, electrical wiring, instrumentation, controls, lubrication systems, and other auxiliary equipment. Modular system design can reduce field installation requirements and provide customers with a more complete factory-assembled and tested solution.

Cobey also specializes in lubrication and seal-support systems for rotating equipment. Products include lube oil consoles, lubrication systems, dry gas seal panels, seal oil systems, rundown tanks, overhead tanks, water injection skids, and other custom auxiliary systems supporting compressors, turbines, pumps, generators, and other critical rotating machinery.

Pressure-vessel engineering and fabrication capabilities include lube oil rundown tanks, seal-oil overhead tanks, pulsation dampeners, separators, knockout drums, demisters, and other custom vessels. Cobey can perform vessel design, code calculations, and related engineering to meet project-specific requirements.

Cobey operates a 102,000-square-foot Buffalo manufacturing facility with complete fabrication, assembly, and testing capabilities. Manufacturing resources include ASME-certified welding, TIG and MIG welding, submerged arc welding, spray arc equipment, plasma cutting, pipe bending, pipe beveling, punching, blasting, painting, heavy lifting and crane capacity, pipe and tube fitting, electrical assembly, and system testing.

Engineering capabilities include application engineering, project engineering, project management, electrical engineering, structural design, pressure-vessel design, piping design, finite element analysis (FEA), component selection, procurement, 3D solid modeling, and document control. Engineering tools include SolidWorks Premium, SolidWorks Simulation for FEA, SolidWorks Routing/Piping, and COMPRESS pressure-vessel design software.

Cobey has extensive experience designing systems for hydrogen, natural gas, gas gathering, pipeline boosting and transmission, gas storage, fuel gas, landfill gas recovery, propane, syngas, acid gas, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, air, refrigeration, vapor recovery, chemical processing, refineries, fertilizer production, CNG vehicle fueling, and other specialized gas-processing applications.

With thousands of systems operating around the world, Cobey supports projects in refineries, power plants, petrochemical facilities, offshore platforms, air-separation plants, hydroelectric facilities, pharmaceutical plants, plastics plants, water-treatment facilities, fertilizer plants, LNG facilities, and other industrial operations.
