BlueForge Alliance (BFA) is a national nonprofit, mission-driven defense industrial base integrator working to strengthen the capability, capacity, and resilience of the U.S. defense and maritime industrial base. BFA works in partnership with the U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, shipbuilders, manufacturers, suppliers, technology providers, workforce organizations, educational institutions, and other industry stakeholders to address critical production, supply-chain, technology, and workforce challenges.

BlueForge Alliance's work is centered around three primary pillars: advanced technology, supply-chain optimization, and workforce development. Through these areas, BFA helps strengthen existing manufacturers, develop new suppliers, increase industrial capacity, remove production bottlenecks, accelerate technology adoption, and build the skilled workforce necessary to support U.S. defense manufacturing.

Supplier development is a major component of BFA's mission. BlueForge works with manufacturers and suppliers throughout the United States to identify opportunities to increase production capacity, improve manufacturing processes, purchase or deploy new equipment, expand facilities, develop additional capabilities, improve throughput, and strengthen overall supply-chain resilience.

BlueForge Alliance facilitates Supplier Development Funding opportunities designed to address manufacturing constraints and expand supplier capability and capacity within the Maritime Industrial Base. Projects can involve manufacturing equipment, machining capacity, facility improvements, production-line expansion, process improvements, inspection and testing capabilities, workforce-related investments, and other initiatives that directly increase a supplier's ability to support maritime and defense production requirements.

Advanced manufacturing is another core focus. BFA supports the identification, qualification, integration, and deployment of technologies that can increase productivity and reduce production risk across the industrial base. Areas of focus include additive manufacturing, Industry 4.0, automation, digital manufacturing, non-destructive testing, advanced inspection, manufacturing process optimization, and other technologies capable of improving quality, throughput, lead times, and production capacity.

BFA's additive manufacturing initiatives support supplier activation and qualification, machine and process qualification, Design for Additive Manufacturing, technical data packages, component qualification, testing, digital data exchange, non-destructive and destructive testing, workforce integration, and the transition of additive manufacturing technologies into production-ready applications.

Workforce development initiatives address one of the most significant constraints facing the defense manufacturing sector: availability of skilled manufacturing talent. BFA works with employers, educators, training providers, workforce organizations, and regional partners to attract new workers, expand and scale training programs, create manufacturing career pathways, and connect qualified candidates with industrial-base employers.

BlueForge Alliance also operates BuildSubmarines.com, a national workforce platform connecting job seekers with career opportunities throughout the submarine and maritime manufacturing supply chain. The initiative promotes careers in welding, machining, manufacturing, engineering, skilled trades, and other occupations necessary to build and sustain the U.S. Navy's undersea fleet.

BFA acts as a connector between government requirements and private-sector manufacturing capabilities. Its nationwide network brings together manufacturers, suppliers, technology companies, workforce organizations, educational institutions, shipbuilders, government agencies, and other partners to identify and execute solutions that strengthen domestic manufacturing capacity and national security.
