As we say goodbye to summer we are pleased to bring to you the fall edition of our BNMA newsletter, The BNMA Brief.  It was great seeing so many of you at our summer events, starting in June with the JP Morgan Corporate challenge, then another sell-out of our annual golf outing at Arrowhead, and in August with a night at the ballpark for a Bisons game. We are very excited about the growth within our organization, as we recently added our 175th member company to the BNMA.

While our Events Committee has already begun preparations for our 2018 calendar of events, we still have 4 great events upcoming to close out 2017. We will tour TAM ceramics in Niagara Falls on Tuesday September 19th. On October 17th, we will celebrate Manufacturing month with a tour of the Engineering Technology department of Buffalo State. On November 14th we will tour A-Titan Instruments, and on December 12th we will have our annual Christmas party at Lancaster Country club. Being able to perform all manufacturing functions under one roof enhances efficiency and quality, through reduced cut times, and faster delivery of an impeccable product.

A.Titan’s engineering team recently partnered with a customer seeking a better solution for machining their valve bodies. This part required both milling and turning operations using multiple machines and multiple set-ups. It is now being produced in a single machine with an automated pallet pool, producing the complete parts in two operations. This required the purchase of a new machine with both milling and turning capabilities. The new machine partnered with the advanced fixturing designed and produced by A. Titan’s Engineers provided the cost effective solution their customer was looking for.

Specialized in the dental and medical field, A. Titan has solidified its footprint as an industry leader in manufacturing and distribution of dental surgical instrumentation. Holding several patents, A.Titan has worked with Dental Industry leaders to develop the newest, innovative line of products available on the market.

With the company’s 20-year anniversary rapidly approaching and technology ever changing, A.Titan has begun the process of implementing automated robotic assembly. Also on the horizon in 2018 is the addition of new laser cutting technology which will aid to further reduce cycle times on its current part offerings.

Empire State Development and the Economic Development Group Announce the Appointment of the President & CEO of the WNY Workforce Training Center

Stephen Tucker chosen to lead the innovative center in the Northland Corridor

It will also serve some of the most underrepresented populations in the region’s workforce. It is being developed as an adaptive reuse of roughly 100,000 square feet of space in the former Clearing Niagara factory at 683 Northland Avenue on Buffalo’s East Side. The center will anchor a 35 acre business park as part of the Northland Avenue Redevelopment Area (a brownfield reclamation project) and will train 350 people each year. Rehabilitation and construction of the WTC began last month and it’s set to open by the Fall of 2018.  The project is a partnership between ESD, the Buffalo Urban Development Corporation (BUDC), the City of Buffalo and the New York Power Authority (NYPA) and is being funded by the Governor’s Buffalo Billion revitalization initiative.

Stephen was recruited to his new position in Buffalo through Performance Management Partners.

Born and raised in Ohio, Stephen served four years in the Unites States Air Force as an Electronic Technician before returning to Cincinnati and attending college through the GI Bill. Stephen has served as the Assistant Executive Director at the Partners for a Competitive Workforce in Cincinnati, Ohio. Previous to that position, Stephen served as Vice President for Workforce Development at Urban League of Greater Cincinnati. His academic achievements include: an A.S., in Business Administration from University of Cincinnati, a B.S., in Criminal Justice from Wilberforce University and an M.B.A. from Indiana Wesleyan University.
