Summer Internships

Dream It, Do It WNY is pleased to announce we are once again partnering  with Mayor Byron Brown’s Summer Youth Internship Program and the NYS Department of Labor which will offer your companies access to paid interns this summer!

These will be 6 week positions for high school and college students (ages 16 – 21) interested in advanced manufacturing and engineering. We’re excited to report that the City of Buffalo and DoL will be working with us to cover the interns’ salaries and provide Worker's Compensation Insurance coverage for all participants. Worksites will just need to provide a copy of your “Certificate of Insurance" demonstrating your site’s general liability and personal injury insurance.

You may also opt to keep your interns for 8 weeks (or longer). In this scenario, your company would pay your interns for the additional time spent with your company; wages paid would in turn trigger eligibility for the easy-to-use NY Youth Works Tax Credit.

Two important program parameters to note:

-       Internships may be completed between Monday, July 6, 2015 and Friday, August 21, 2015

-       The maximum time an intern can be scheduled to work is 20 hours per week.

Also, for those of you who participated last year we have made some changes to the program to ensure that you are receiving the best qualified and suited candidates that are available. We are happy to walk you through all of these details, please contact us if you have any questions.

If you are interested in hosting an intern this summer, please fill out the paper work, and send it back to myself or directly to the city.

As always- thank you for your continued support of Dream It, Do It and if you have any questions please feel free to contact Susan!
